Mason jar salads are a great way to enjoy the bounty of the season and with the right protein you’ll feel light, strong and satisfied. Of course, these salad combinations can be prepared fresh to order but by spending some time assembling the jars in advance, you’ll have the perfect grab-and-go meal for lunch on the dock, park picnics or a quick dinner on busy evenings. Plus, they’re absolutely gorgeous!

Layer it up!

When making a Mason jar salad, it’s best to start with the dressing on the bottom and finish with the lettuce. This ensures the lettuce stays crisp because it’s not sitting in a wet dressing and when you turn it onto a plate the greens will create a beautiful bed for all the other ingredients with the dressing at the top.

Layer hearty, marinating-friendly veggies over the dressing, like tomatoes, broccoli or cauliflower so you’re not sacrificing the crunch from crisp veggies like cucumbers or radishes that may get soggy.
